Climate: In general, a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters.
The average maximum temperature in the hottest month, January, is 26°C (4 to 6°C less than in the
valley plane) and rainfall is around 300 mm annually, concentrated between the months of May and
August.In particular, the 2019-2020 season was characterized as one of the most advanced in
recent times, with a very dry winter and a very hot summer. This, together with lower yields, led to
an early 2020 harvest, with a high concentration of fruit and very good sanitary condition of the
harvested bunches.
Soils: Exceptionally diverse soils, with 22 different terroir units and 52 unique plots with
extraordinary diversity. Soils of granitic and volcanic origin in layers, with varying amounts of clay
and decomposition of the parent rock. Doña Bernarda is born from a blend of these different soils
and conditions where its main components intensely represent this geologic soil.
Average age of vines: 15 years
24 months in 300-liter oak barrels. 50% of these were new.
Elegant ruby red in color, the nose is complex with several layers of aromas dominated by fruity and
spicy aromas together with notes from its time in oak and bottle ageing.
The palate is imposing, with a smooth entry, great development, fine tannic structure, good length
and very balanced finish.
Perfect with grilled meat and mushroom sauce over basmati rice, charcuterie and hard
cheeses.
